    anOTHER T.SHIRT COMPETITION a NYC-based competition

Welcome to anOTHER T.SHIRT COMPETITION, a NYC-based competition/ exhibition/ limited-edition sale of "work of art" t-shirts submitted by graphic designers and artists from all over the world, and juried by a select group of professionals who represent the design, fashion, and gallery world. Our COMPETITION is a reinterpretation of the traditional t-shirt competition. Using a t-shirt as medium/raw-material or a jumping off point, we are looking for submissions which extend the boundaries of what a t-shirt is and what graphic design is. We are seeking entries that bring us into the world of inventive, playful, unconventional design. Look at it as exploring the t-shirt as artifact/fetish/object/medium/art.

As of June 21st, 2005 we are accepting entries for the contest portion of this event. Submissions must be received by Midnight GMT of August 13th, 2005. A total of eight winning submissions will be selected by our judges. Those winning entries will be shipped to New York (by us) and featured at a NEW YORK COLLECTIVE flash environment; a temporary exhibition space/store. Open from September 13th-September 25th, 2005, during NYC fashion week, it will be kicked off by a DJ'd opening night party (9.13.05), and will also include the sale of winning artists' entries in limited edition multiples produced by NEW YORK COLLECTIVE.

    Spirit West Coast Monterey

    Spirit West Coast
    Monterey, CA
    July 28 - 30th 2005

The Spirit West Coast festivals are the two largest and only multiple-day Christian music festivals in the Southwest United States. The festivals rank as two of the premier Christian music festivals in the country, drawing fans from many states, especially from the Western region including California, Arizona, and Nevada. The event's combined "unique visitor" attendance in 2004 was 43,700 and the combined 6-day cumulative attendance was 90,000.

Spirit West Coast - Monterey debuted in 1997 at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area, located along the Central Coast of California. Now entering its ninth year, many Christian music insiders claim the Monterey festival is the highest-quality Christian festival in the country. The newer second annual festival at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego County on Memorial Day provides Christian music fans and event goers from Southern California and other areas (Arizona, Southern Nevada) a new opportunity to experience the same dynamic combination of music and ministry that has been enjoyed by thousands in Monterey for years.

    Oneighty in Tulsa

Ministries use tech, flash to attract teens

    By Kelly Kurt

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The hottest teen hangout around is packed and throbbing with what seems an unholy beat this Wednesday night, the night local churches claim for midweek worship. A DJ spins dance tunes upstairs, sending boys in sagging pants into contortions. Downstairs, girls surf the Internet from rows of iMacs flanking a glassed-in basketball court. Hundreds of new arrivals flow under a neon sign reading, “Oneighty,??? slowed only by a weapons check at the door.

Church night Bible study, it’s not. But the music is Christian, the surfing monitored and “the funnest part,??? a 12-year-old Oneighty regular attests over a video game, “is learning about God.???

What is this Silver Ring Thing anyway?

The History of the Silver Ring Thing Silver Ring Thing (SRT) sexual abstinence program was created by Denny Pattyn and the Youth FORUM Southwest leadership team in 1995. The program was designed to attract the attention of the typical 21st century teenager and offer them protection from the destructive effects of America's sex obsessed culture. In 2000, Denny joined the John Guest Team as the Executive Director and with him brought his vision for the Silver Ring Thing program. It was here that the national SRT program was developed. The Silver Ring was designed by Paul Bensel Jewelers of Yuma and is worn as a symbol and reminder of the abstinence pledge. The "Thing" in Silver Ring is the high-tech presentation that makes this program uniquely attractive. By featuring awesome lighting and video systems, hilarious skits, concert sound systems, high-energy music, TV's, computers, and a faith-based abstinence message, students become interested in the message being offered to them about their sex lives. In the first five years of operation, nearly 1000 teenagers completed the two-hour program, received a silver ring and signed an abstinence vow.
